SA: SA gvt criticised over handling of uranium leak
The South Australian government has been criticised for its handling of a uranium leakat a mine in the state's north.
Up to 60,000 litres of radioactive liquid spilt from a pipe during routine maintenanceat the Beverley Uranium Mine, 600km north of Adelaide, on Friday.
A spokesman for mine operator Heathgate Resources says there has been no impact onthe environment or on workers' safety.
But a spokeswoman for the SA Nuclear Free party, CHERIE HOYLE, says the governmenthas bungled yet another radioactive accident by delaying its statement for over 24 hours.
