Fed: Countdown to war heats up

CANBERRA, Feb 23 AAP - Australia could be at war with Iraq in just over a fortnightunder a timetable outlined by Foreign Minister Alexander Downer today.

Mr Downer said a new UN Security Council resolution was likely to give Iraq only days to disarm.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Colin Powell said he expected the resolutionsoon after UN weapons inspector Hans Blix delivered his next report on March 7.

The foreign minister, who flies to Seoul tomorrow, will discuss the resolution andways to mobilise world support with Mr Powell in the South Korean capital later this week.
