WA: Driver of truck that crushed man may be charged, police say

Police say a West Australian Water Corporation contractor whose truck ran into a government
building, crushing a man to death, may be charged.

The Toyota Hilux tray-top vehicle ran off Shoal Road, mounted the kerb and collided
with the Department of Community Development in the Pilbara town of Roebourne, 1,500 kilometres
north of Perth, about 10am (WST) today.

Police say two men, in their 40s or 50s, who were sitting on the front verandah of
the building, were pinned by the truck.

One man was dragged underneath the vehicle and was crushed to death in the impact.

The other victim was been rushed to Roebourne's Nickol Bay hospital in a serious condition.

The truck driver escaped from the freak accident shocked but unhurt.

Police have not ruled out charging the driver.
