Qld: Oppn motion to end election speculation watered down

BRISBANE, Feb 27 AAP - Queensland Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg has been forced
to water down a motion to ensure the government runs its full term.

In state parliament today, Mr Springborg moved a motion calling on Governor Quentin
Bryce to block any election being held before July 18, 2009 unless there was a resolution
from the parliament stating otherwise.

Mr Springborg said the move would boost business confidence and end "silly political games".
